Optimize Your Ketamine Treatment

Welcome to IPOP! We are so glad you’re here, starting your Ketamine treatment. We know you are investing a lot of time and effort into this treatment, and want you to get the most out of it. 

Ketamine treatments enhance your brain’s neuroplasticity – its ability to form new connections, to think and function differently. So take advantage of that by supporting your brain and body in the following ways:

On the day of treatment

  • wear comfortable clothes
  • ensure adequate sleep the night before
  • hydrate
  • practice mindfulness before & during your treatment – take some deep breaths, scan your physical senses for what you’re experiencing (and pay attention to the details), set an intention for the day 
  •  schedule in time after your appointment for rest & reflection (if you have one, bring a journal with you – many people find post-treatment reflection beneficial)
For the duration of treatment
  • reduce stress, build in time for rest & self-care
  • prioritize adequate sleep
  • provide your brain with the nutrients it needs with a healthy, balanced diet
  • practice mindfulness, meditation, journaling, or other activities you enjoy that help  promote relaxation and facilitate positive changes in your brain’s neuropathways
  • engage in cognitively stimulating activities, such as reading, solving games or puzzles, learning a new skill
  • consider working with a talk therapist to facilitate processing thoughts & emotions that may come up during your treatment while also taking advantage of your brain’s increased flexibility during this time
