Welcome to IPOP! We are so glad you’re here, starting your TMS treatment. We know you are investing a lot of time and effort into this treatment, and want you to get the most out of it. So here are some tips for optimizing your results!
On the day of treatment
- prioritize sleep the night before
- stay awake & alert during your session
- schedule in some time for rest & processing after treatment
For the duration of treatment
- prioritize stress reduction
- ensure adequate sleep
- stay hydrated
- fuel your brain with nutritious food
- practice mindfulness & meditation, both of which can help to increase your brain’s flexibility, facilitating the positive affects of your TMS treatments
- incorporate regular physical activity as you can – some patients find exercising directly after sessions can boost its effects, but regardless of timing, physical activity will help optimize your brain’s functioning
- consider working with a talk therapist to facilitate processing thoughts & emotions that may come up during your treatment while also taking advantage of your brain’s increased flexibility during this time
